Strategic career management is a reflective, on-going planning process of identifying and implementing incremental, realistic short-term and long-term career goals. A career plan should be realistic, cohesive, and adaptable; it also needs show evidence of thoughtful planning to illustrate a practical pathway to attain your career objectives. Furthermore, it must be supported by the provision of an alternative pathway to mitigate possible personal change of circumstances as well as alteration in the labour market conditions… the future of work.
Instructions: You need to develop a Career Plan for yourself for the next 2-3 years.
The following is the structure to be followed:
• Table of contents with numbered pages.
• Introduction – introduces the topic (importance of career management) and gives some background information about the topic. Provide contextual background – the future / precarious nature of work (environmental) and your contextual background (personal). States the aim and purpose of the investigation (to construct a realistic, considered, adaptable career plan) outlines sections of the report.
The following sections will be the subheadings for the main body of your report.
- Who you are: (professional and personal life): discuss your values, your career motivations, and your purpose / outlook on life? Identify what meaningful / purposeful work is. Discuss external influences on your career decision making. Use the Your Compass activity, Inheritance factor reflections, Odyssey Plans, and other self-reflective activities we have encouraged you to engage with this semester.
- A career vision statement – a succinct statement outlining your ultimate career ambitions. Include your values & outlook / purpose of work. For instance: “An ethical entrepreneur whose business projects are considered from an environmental and economic perspective to work towards greater global sustainability.”
- A professional profile summary statement that you can write and include as part of your professional identity on digital platforms (e.g., profile summary for LinkedIn). Use adjectives to describe yourself and identify your employability skill strengths. Market your self – “An enthusiastic, hardworking and an initiative-driven first year Commerce student at Curtin University with a passion for accountancy, seeking to engage in an increasingly dynamic finance sector.”
- An Employability Skills Self-Evaluation. Identify the skills you possess; the skills you will need; and the skills you would like to develop. Use the EmployABILITY survey results, the Belbin inventory, Week 1 lecture slides and any other employability skill reflections you may have completed in your tutorials to assist with this.
- Outline your career goals (major & minor / short term & long term). Discuss how you are going to achieve them by identifying the required steps and a timeline. Your major, long-term goals can be split into smaller, incremental steps. Use the Career Goal Setting information sheet for further elaboration.
- Produce two timelines (your main pathway and an alternative pathway) as visual representations of your career plan over the next 2-3 years. Include major and 3 to 5 minor goals to provide sufficient detail. Use the Career Goal Setting information sheet for assistance.
- Outline a long-term career vision. This will frame a picture for the next 5 years. Although it may be vague or general now, it is a space for on-going development in your career plan. Your Odyssey plans will also be helpful here.
- Explain how you are going to ‘future proof’ your chosen career goals. Is your career at risk (refer to the impact of the future of work; industry reports)? What are you going to do to ensure you remain employable? This area requires research. Use the reports on Moodle as a starting point.
- Conclusion – summary, what the report achieved – did it meet its aim, the significance of the findings (is the plan realistic, cohesive, adaptable? Have you discovered the plan differs from your original vision? If so, explain), and a discussion and interpretation of the findings (what did you learn about yourself whilst writing the plan – provide a sophisticated comment to illustrate this in your concluding statement of the conclusion; it is the last thing a marker will read – make it impactful).
- List of references - a list of sources of information referred to in the Career Plan. You need to support this with in-text citations in the plan. A reference list and in-text citations are inter- dependent; you cannot have one without the other. Referencing – use a minimum of six academic sources of information – industry reports, journal articles, academic books. No websites. Your list of references should be the last page of your report. Please follow Chicago 17B format.
In the present day, world, career management has become an important part of professional development (Growthspace. 2023). The importance of career management has been found to get increased with the increasing uncertainty of the future of work. Industries are continuously getting changed to technological advancements, changing demands of the market along with the social practices (Gati & Kulcsar, 2021). So as the labour market gets changed, our approach to career planning must also change in the same way. Strategic career management includes the process of not only self-reflection and adjustment, but also it allows us to stay continuously checked on our goals, values, as well as opportunities. This process helps all the people to stay adaptable by making sure the fact that they remain very much aligned with the changing demands of the profession. Career plan isn’t found not only as a roadmap for professional also has a tool for achieving the fulfilment of our goals. It mentions both the short term as well as a long-term goals, and more importantly gives a way to achieve the same. The name of this report is to create a realistic and acceptable career plan. This plan will address both immediate career along with long-term ambitious goals and also an alternative career pathway to solve all the unexpected changes as well as challenges for MBA assignment expert In this report, I will be able to create a clear direction for my career and maintain interrupt in the changing professional environment.
I am Timothy Patrick Komala, an 18 year old, who is born and raised in Indonesia. My experience an important role in changing my motivation and outlook on life. My father is an entrepreneur and my mother is an educated, I have learned the importance of both business as well as education from a young age. I would like to mention that I actually see my family as my role models and sources of inspiration. The entrepreneurial journey of my father and the dedication of my mother to teach have created in a proper appreciation for the value of hard work, commitment, as well as lifelong learning. I am very much attached to the passion for business, and I also value personal growth, adaptability, and making contribution to society in many of the meaningful ways. I have always created both short as well as long-term goal to keep myself motivated and focus on my career path. I am interested in the world of business, mainly in the areas of finance, investment, as well as analysis. This interest grew very much stronger when I was introduced to the concept of investments at the age of 16 when I watched educational YouTube videos. Those interest have now got changed into passion for business management by having a focus on business analysis as well as financial investments. In addition to passion for my business, I understood the fact that this kind of approach has been very much important in my development, both inside and outside of school. I actually got participation in my high school student council and even started my own e-commerce business during the COVID-19 pandemic by selling the pet products. This experiences give me some valuable skills in terms of leadership, teamwork as well as a business operations more than that, actively look for opportunities so that I can improve my skills and learn outside the classroom. I am constantly getting exploited to some new avenues for personal development, such as going to the gym and learning new skills in business and finance. Improving my career ambition, but also give me the power to deal with the challenges that came along the way.

My career vision is to become an ethical entrepreneur who leads business ventures with a focus on environmental sustainability, social impact as well as financial growth. I am having the aim to create business that create a balance between profitability with responsibility by making sure the fact that both economic as well as environmental factors are taken into consideration in terms of decision making. In addition to entrepreneurship, I see myself as a business analyst who gives information about the financial strategies, invest investment and as well as market patterns that are making continuation to the success of the business. This is also based in values of integrity, innovation, as well as social responsibility. By making alignment of my career goal with values, I am having the aim to make contribution to a sustainable future by also fulfilling my own professional goals.

I am an energetic and hard-working person, who is having passion for business analysis. By being a student at Curtin University, I would like to mention that I am having my major subjects in business and finance. I would always like to apply my academic knowledge to all the real life challenges. I am having a strong foundation in financial analysis, business management, as well as strategic planning for which I have created for education and personal experiences in the process of running my own business. I am very much skilled in problem-solving, communication, communication, as well as leadership, and I am constantly looking for ways so that my capabilities in such areas can be improved. By having an interest in investments and commitment to ethical business practices, I am having more focus on creating business solutions that are making a positive contribution to the society. It is also needed to look for opportunities so that people can get more contacts and make engagement with the dynamic sectors of finance and business management (Nayal et al., 2022).
Employability Skills Self-Evaluation
Based on self-assessment activities, including EmployABILITY survey, along with the Belbin inventory, I have evaluated my current skills set and found some of the areas for my current trends also like in terms of communication, problems, solving, leadership, as well as adaptability. I have created this skills with the help of my student council by starting my own business and working part time in many of the team settings. But here I would like to mention that I also understand the need to further create my technical skills, mainly in the areas of data analysis, business intelligence, tools, like Power BI and Excel. In order to achieve this, I am having the plan to take professional certifications and internships, which are related to business analysis in order to get all kinds of hands on experience.
The goals are divided into short-term and long-term objectives, which are having contribution to the vision of professional development (Prediger et al., 2022; Meesuk et al., 2021).
Short-term Goals (2023-2025):
1. Graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in business, by having major subjects in finance and accounting, from Curtin University.
2. Get all forms of practical experience by getting a part-time job or internship as a business analyst.
3. Build a strong professional network by attending industry events and joining business-related student organizations.
4. Improve technical skills by completing certifications in business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and financial analysis.
Long-term Goals (2026-2029):
1. Launch my own business, by having the main focus on sustainability and ethical business practices.
2. Work with a global firm in business analysis or financial strategy (e.g., Google, Apple, Amazon).
3. Become a senior business analyst, contributing to strategic decision-making processes.
4. Achieve financial independence and secure my own property.
Steps to Achieve These Goals:
• Attend all the related workshops, webinars, and networking events to increase my knowledge and professional connections.
• Apply for internships in top business firms to get all kinds of industry experience.
• Continuously develop my technical and soft skills through online courses, workshops, and real-world practice.
Main Pathway:
• 2023-2025: Complete university studies with a major in finance, obtain internships, and work part-time in related fields.
• 2026-2027: Launch a sustainable business, gain industry experience, and become a senior business analyst.
• 2028-2029: Work for a top firm and continue growing my own business ventures.
Alternative Pathway:
• 2023-2025: Work in a full-time job while studying part-time.
• 2026-2027: Pursue an MBA or additional certifications in business analysis.
• 2028-2029: Start a business focused on global sustainability.

In the next five years, I am having the vision of myself to look as a business, entrepreneur and a senior business analyst by making contribution to both environmental sustainability along with financial profitability. The main goal is to work with the industry leaders my own business venture by having a main focus on making some innovative solutions for the global challenges (Aithal & Aithal, 2023; Usman et al., 2024).

As a nature of work is getting changed, mainly with the technological advancement along with the changes in global markets, it is very much important to make sure the fact that my career remains very much related in the industry. So, in order to support that I am having the plan to stay very much updated with the new industry patterns and improve my technical skills. I will improve my education in new feels like artificial intelligence as well as data analytics. I will also change my portfolio by creating many streams of income like making investments in many other sectors and making the position of leader who is capable of surviving in a changing sector.

To summarize, my career plan mentions here a realistic and well-structured pathway that makes a reflection on both like who I am today and who I aim to become in the future. It combines academic progression, professional development, and personal purposes into a kind of proper roadmap for success. By having all the clearly defined short- and long-term goals like completing my business degree, getting all kinds of practical experience, and launching my own venture I am having the commitment to turn here my ambitions into reality with the help of consistent effort and focus.
Although my initial career ideas were larger reflection has helped me to change here my direction. I have changed my overall focus from accounting to business analysis, a field that gets better aligned with my strengths in finance, strategic planning, and problem-solving. I now understand the fact that business analysis not only excites me intellectually but also gives me some of the important opportunities for career growth in a changing market.
My employability skills evaluation showed me the importance of creating all forms of career identity, technical competencies, and adaptability. I acknowledge the gaps in areas like data analysis tools, business intelligence software, and overall self-confidence. However, I am also addressing all these with the help of internships, certifications, and continuous learning. I have also created alternative career pathways to remain flexible and resilient in the face of unexpected challenges.
Through this process of career planning, I feel very much confident and motivated. I am also having the main aim to become a business analyst and later an ethical entrepreneur who combines all forms of financial performance with social and environmental responsibility. I am also having the main commitment to lifelong learning, adapting to changes in the job market, and getting all kinds of excellence in all professional projects.
In conclusion, my career plan is dynamic and future-proof, which is also built on passion, purpose, and a clear sense of direction. With dedication and adaptability, I am confident that I will be able to achieve my long-term goals and create a meaningful impact.
