MGNT908 Human Resource Development Report
Reflection is a practice that develops over time. It is therefore important to capture our experiences and reactions over time. Once we have done so we can then zoom-in and reflect more deeply on an experience that we found most important to our learning.
You will be required to keep a Learning Journal via the completion of 4 blog posts. Each blog should be between 100-120 words and link directly to learning materials in MGNT908. Your blog posts must be written using the DIEP model discussed in class and in your assessment 3 resources. Please see additional material on DIEP in the ‘Useful Resources’ section below
You will use the Learning Journal blog posts to develop the skills to write a longer reflection for Part B of this assessment. Complete 4 posts using the DIEP model by due dates using the following prompts:
Blog post 1 end of Week 4 “The most important thing I learned in engaging with MGNT908 learning materials and/or class experience so far is…”
• What was your insight from the class experience or learning material?
• How does this experience link to the literature (link your insight to the literature)?
• How will you use this new learning into the future?
HINT: You may use any part of the lecture or lecture notes to support the link to the literature for this reflection blog.
We will work on drafting this blog post in at the end of the Week 1 workshop, you will then have an opportunity to refine your blog post before submitting it.
Blog post 2 due end of Week 6 “The most important thing I realised about adult learning principles from reading the MGNT908 learning materials is…”
Some reflection prompts you may wish to consider:
• How accurately does what I learned reflect my experience as an adult learner?
• What does the literature say about working in groups?
• How will I use this information or not when training others?
• How will I use this information (or not) as a learner?
HINT: Hint: You may use any part of the Learning Module 2 Adult Learning Principles or related sources to support the link to the literature for this reflection blog. Alternatively, you may also the following reading available via the Subject Readings tab in Moodle.
Blog post 3 due end of Week 7 “The most important thing I learned from working with others in a group…”
Some reflection prompts you may wish to consider:
• What has been my experience of working with others in a group?
• What is my experience of working with my new team for assessment 2?
• What does the literature say about working in groups?
• How will I draw on my experience and what I have learned from the literature to support working in the assessment 2 group?
Blog post 4 due end of Week 8 “The most important thing I have learned about using feedback from others when working in a group….”
Some reflection prompts you may wish to consider:
• How did I feel about the feedback I have received from others in MGNT908 (lecturer/peers)
• What did I learn from this feedback?
• What does the literature say about using feedback for learning?
• How will I draw on this experience to support my learning from feedback in the future?
Hint: You may use one of the following sources to support the link to the literature for this reflection blog.
Your written submission must expand on one of your Learning Journal Blog Posts above. It must be written using the DIEP model and written using a reflective writing style.
• Define the concept of reflection and consider why reflection is an important aspect of learning in the workplace.
• Define the DIEP model.
• Consider how you have used feedback to support your learning.
• Include references to academic sources that link to definitions and to the insight you have gained and a writing about.

Blog Post 1
After engaging in different learning materials of MGNT908, the most important thing that I learnt so far is the growing importance of human resource development (HRD) in contemporary organisations. The learning materials have enabled me to understand that HRD is essential for developing and improving skills, knowledge, expertise and capacities of employees in the organisation (Delahaye & Choy, 2018, p.86). I have further realised that investing in HRD means enhancing employee expertise so that these individuals are focused and competent in achieving the desired objectives of the organisation. This has helped me to understand the importance of developing my own skills and capacities. I have now focused on improving my existing skills and acquiring new ones required for ensuring my personal growth and professional development. This will enable me to contribute towards my career growth.
Blog Post 2
The most significant thing for MBA assignment expert that I realised about adult learning principles from MGNT908 modules is that no single theory can be used for acquiring complete understanding about adult learner. Using various theories like cognitivism, humanism, behaviourism or others has become important to better comprehend how they can be applied for improving learning (Arghode, Brieger & McLean, 2017, p.593). I have realised that gaining knowledge about these learning theories can enable me to analyse my own learning improvements and shortcomings. I will further be able to enhance my learning outcomes through improvement in the process by using those adult learning theories in the future.
Blog Post 3
While working together with others in a group, I have learnt that accountability and interdependence amongst team members are most important for ensuring improved performance (Aranzabal, Epelde & Artetxe, 2022, p.22). I have understood that responsibility undertaken by each of the members in performing various roles helps in enhancing overall performance of the team. Working in groups has also made me realise about how communicating effectively with team members is essential for developing efficient teams. It has also improved my interpersonal and social skulls. In the future, this teamworking experience will enable me to work harmoniously and responsibly with others to achieve desired objectives in my future workplace.
Blog Post 4
I have learnt that using feedback from others while working in a group is of utmost importance as it can help in recognising our own strengths and weaknesses. While working in the group, iterative feedback from team members has enabled me to improve my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. I have also become more aware about my skills, expertise and capabilities (University of Waterloo 2024). I think that this feedback process has contributed significantly towards enhancing my personal growth as I have acquired new skills. This has also been beneficial for enhancing my professional development. Moreover, I further plan to engage in discussions with my group members in future projects to accomplish tasks and receive constructive feedback from them to improve myself. This will help me in my professional career.
Reflection can be considered as a intellectual or mental process for making sense of various ideas or personal beliefs by using sources of evidence (Marshall, 2019, p.396). This is a form of reflective discourse that helps in evaluating various ambiguous, uncertain and complex situations. It helps in looking back at the experiences, age-old beliefs and preconceived notions about the world through sensemaking (Faller, Lundgren & Marsick, 2020, p.250). I have undertaken this reflection for evaluating my learnings and experiences through the course of human resource development under MGNT908. This has enabled me to understand my own strengths and weaknesses, which I can use to enhance my learning process in future workplace. In this regard, I have used DIEP model by focusing on its four stages of describing, interpreting, evaluating and planning (RMIT Library 2024).

Describe
In this reflection, I have focused on my learnings after the end of Week 8, where I extensively learnt about the importance of using feedback from team members of a group. At the end of each group project or task, we provided feedback to each other based on the task completion. In this regard, I obtained feedback from my group members about my skills and expertise, areas of improvement and their feelings about my contribution. Here, I could understand from their feedback that I possess strong interpersonal, social and communication skills as a team member. However, their feedback also displayed that I need to improve my problem-solving skills, time management skills and conflict resolution abilities. My peers also opined that I had significant knowledge and expertise of our subject matters and management topics. This enabled me to contribute positively towards the progress of completing the group assignments in a successful manner.
Interpret
In my opinion, I received positive feedback about my interpersonal and communication skills because of engaging in clear and constructive interaction with my team members. I also provided any suggestions or personal opinions alongside using my knowledge and expertise to support these group members. This helped us to work harmoniously towards achieving the group objectives. However, I sometimes avoided direct confrontation arising out of different opinions. This might have made them realise that I lack conflict resolutions or problem-solving skills. Moreover, I realised that sometimes I lagged behind in completing individual tasks in the group because of my inadequate time management abilities.
Evaluate
Acquiring and analysing feedback from my peers during group projects helped me to better understand my own learning experiences. I am now more aware about my strengths and weaknesses. This has enabled me to strengthen my existing skills and expertise while also working towards improving my time-management, problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
Plan
Currently, I am self-aware about my feelings and perceptions about my learning experiences throughout the entire module. I will now focus on expanding my theoretical knowledge about those learnt management concepts alongside applying my conflict resolution and time management skills. I will also participate in more group projects for enhancing my problem-solving abilities, which will help me in my professional development.
