Assessment Description

Students are required to write a reflection piece every week to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts and topics learnt during that week. This will be collated together at the end of the trimester in a portfolio to assess students learning experience throughout this unit. To complete this assessment, it is highly recommended for students to attend the classes regularly to develop an understand of the concepts and techniques covered in the assessment.

At the end of each session students are expected to write a 300-500-word essay where they will reflect up on the topics and learnings covered during that session. This is an individual assessment and students are expected to cite using appropriate referencing to support your work.

Solution

As per the MBA Assignment Expert, I have gone through the learning on the advanced discovery and process modelling process. I have learnt about the choice gateway of event-based. The major BPMN types of events are start messages and un-typed events. I have learnt about event-based choices and their difference from data-based choices. BPMN helps in the distinction between XOR-split and gateway of decisions regarding event-based. I have learnt about exception handling through examples of terminated events. The sub-processes under process discovery consist of exception handling and internal exception through error events. The solution of internal exception consists of handling purchase orders (Mehdouani Missaoui and Ghannouchi, 2019). The learning has been reinforced by undertaking the activity timeout on the order-to-order quote to transportation. I have gained information about process discovery which involves process analysts and domain experts. The major process of techniques of process discovery comprises evidence-based, workshop-based and interview-based. The chief components of evidence-based process techniques are document analysis, process mining and observation.

Process discovery techniques consist of strengths such as structured information and extensive cases of sets (Ayech, Ghannouchi and Amor, 2021). On the contrary, I have recognised the weakness of these techniques, such as the possibility of outdated material, data quality challenges and iterations. I have learnt about the efforts of process discovery that can be segmented into ten different activities. The chief activities are kick-off meetings, interviews with domain experts and acquiring final approval from the process owner (Mehdouani Missaoui and Ghannouchi, 2019). I have recognised that the initiation of process discovery needs to incorporate the sentiment and culture of an organisation. There is a possibility that a dynamic young company is distinguished from a hierarchical organisation based on the free movement of cultural ideas (Nilsen, 2020). The process discovery starts with the identification of process boundaries, identification of events, determination of resources and control flow. I learnt that activities could be identified in process discovery through the examples of received purchase orders. The resources are determined in the received purchase order by checking stock availability and checking of raw materials. Similarly, I have recognised that flow of control can be identified through confirming order and receipt of payment.
